Project #8 Consentful Interface
Flowchart
Interface Prototype
Interface Description
I created this consentful interface to give a better user experience for my experimental camera. My goal is to let users know what the camera is about and how it works so that when they are using the camera, they have a better understanding of the concept behind. I also recreate the camera by adding a function in which users can freely cover and uncover the peephole camera.
Reflection
Learn to use the DOM elements is very helpful. I learned a bit about CSS before, and using the DOM elements with CSS helps create the visual graphic much more convenient.
How does your design respond to F.R.I.E.S.?
I think my design corresponds with the F.R.I.E.S. principles. It does not force users to decide; they can choose to read the information about the software before they use it. The users also have the option to cover and uncover the camera virtually, which means the process is reversible; they can take their permission back when they want to. Another thing is the texts on the button are direct and clear; users can easily understand what direction their decision will lead them.
How did your consentful interface recontextualized user interaction and experience?
I think letting users experience the peephole camera that can close or open the peephole enhances the overall experience. Initially, the camera only shows the uncovered image; now, the camera can be covered, and the sense of isolation is much stronger than before.
